Who is behind it
Score Buddy is written and maintained by Mattia Rebesan, one person, out of interest rather than as a business. There is no company behind it, no investor and no editorial team: there is someone who plays cards and got tired of hunting for a pen halfway through a game.
Why it exists
Most scorekeepers are one of two things: a calculator with the players' names on it, or an app that asks you to sign up before it will count to eleven. Neither of them knows what you are playing. The target, the direction of the standings and the quick buttons differ from one game to the next, and guessing wrong means entering scores you then have to check by hand. Here you pick the game first and the rest is already set.
How it is built
It is a static site: no server of ours holds your data, because there is no server of ours to keep running. Scores live in the storage of the browser you are using and never leave it. The code runs entirely on your device, arithmetic included, which is why it keeps working when the connection comes and goes. The domain and the hosting are paid for by advertising — that is the only reason there are ads at all, and they are confined to fixed slots that never cover the table.

For a mistake in a rules page, a game that is missing, or a total that does not add up: hello@scorebuddy.win. Replies arrive when they arrive — it is one person — but every report is read, and the ones about scoring come first, because a scorekeeper that gets it wrong is worse than no scorekeeper. Requests about personal data and legal matters have their own addresses on the pages that cover them.
