    Keeping score at Flip 7

Flip 7 is the only game in this list where a score is built card by card rather than agreed as a single number. That is why the scorer here is not a box you type a total into: you tap the cards in front of a player and the total works itself out, modifiers and bonus included.

The order of operations matters. First add up the numbered cards, zero through twelve. Then apply the multiplier, if the times-two card is in play, doubling that sum. Only afterwards add the fixed-value bonus cards — plus two, plus four, plus six, plus eight, plus ten — which are not doubled. Applying the bonus before the multiplier gives a higher total than the real one, and it is the mistake people make most.

    Busting and the seven-card bonus

A player busts by drawing a number already in front of them, and busting ends their round at zero: everything they had accumulated disappears. That is the central tension of the game, and the reason banking a decent score is so often stronger than pushing on. At the other extreme, a player who assembles seven different numbered cards ends their round immediately and collects fifteen bonus points on top of the card total. The scorer adds that bonus for you as soon as seven distinct values are selected.

    Using the scorer

The target is two hundred points. At the end of a round, select the cards in front of each player and confirm; anyone who busted or stayed out is folded with the button beside the bin, which records a zero without going through the grid. The total shown already includes the multiplier and the bonus, so there is nothing left to work out in your head.

A player who has acted is marked done and their card stops answering taps, so nobody is counted twice in the same round. The line above the list names the turn you are on and who is still owed; when the last of them plays, the turn closes on its own with nothing to press. Under each total sits what is left of the two hundred.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the multiplier apply to bonus cards too?
No. The times-two card doubles only the sum of the numbered cards; fixed-value bonuses are added afterwards. Swapping the two steps inflates the score.
What do I record for a player who busted?
Zero for that round. Drawing a number already in front of you loses everything accumulated in that round, however much it was worth.
What is the seven-card bonus worth?
Fifteen points, added on top of the card values. It needs seven numbered cards all different, and that player's round ends immediately.
    What score ends the game?
Two hundred points, the default target here. The round in progress is still played out, so everyone has had the same number of rounds.
